About Us

The Wetherby Footpath Group has been in existence since 1972. Our aim is to encourage walking and the protection of footpaths, to foster a greater knowledge, love, and care of, the countryside, and to work for the preservation of natural beauty.

We welcome members of the public to join our walks. Please make yourself known to the walk leader. If you wish to join the Group, the annual subscription is £3.00 per person or £5.00 for a couple living at the same address.

An application form can be accessed by following the Membership link to the left.

The walks programme can also be accessed by following the link to the left.

Notes for Walkers

Please let the Leader lead. Do not walk in front unless asked to do so.

Walkers should be adequately equipped, wearing suitable footwear and clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.

Bringing some refreshment is recommended as we normally stop for a brief rest half way round the walk. Where it is desirable to bring along food/a packed lunch (such as on one of our “all day specials”) this will normally be flagged up on the programme & website.

All our walks are circular. If you intend to use public transport, please check your times with current timetables.

Children under 16 are welcome on our walks but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the walk. The dog owner, (not the Group nor the Leader) is responsible for the dog’s behaviour and any liability for claims etc.

The Footpath Group and its Walks Leaders cannot accept responsibility for any mishap to participants or their property on any of its activities.

In severe weather conditions the walk may be cancelled. If in doubt, phone the Leader.
